The Picturebooks teilen Song "Here's To Magic" mit Refused-Sänger Dennis Lyxzén

Die Gütersloher Garage-Blueser The Picturebooks haben ein Teamwork in der Pipeline. Gemeinsam mit The Distillers-Bassist Ryan Sinnott, Refused-Sänger Dennis Lyxzén und Schlagzeuger Sven Pollkötter (seit 2014 Dozent für Schlagzeug, Fachdidaktik und Literaturkunde an der Musikakademie der Stadt Kassel) haben sie sich Verstärkung dazugeholt. Die nennt sich: The Major Minor Collective.

Um Lyxzén aufzunehmen, sind die Picturebooks bis in dessen nordschwedische Heimatstadt Umeå gereist und haben es sich für die Aufnahmen im Proberaum von Refused eingerichtet. Pollkötter wiederum ist Schlagzeug-Mentor von Picturebooks-Rhythmusgeber Philipp Mirtschink – im Song hören wir also beide Schlagzeug spielen.

„Here’s To Magic“ nennt sich der kooperative Song. Das knapp viereinhalbminütige Stück klingt wie eine Mischung aus Tribal-Beats getriebenem Picturebooks-Blues mit offensichtlichem Refused-Einschlag. Der prominent angeführte Befehl „Now testify“ ruft zudem Rage Against The Machines Song „Testify“ ins Gedächtnis.

The Picturebooks hatten kürzlich die Compilation „The Early Years“ herausgebracht, die auch bisher unveröffentlichtes Material enthielt.
