Eminem wird – wie schon berichtet – für das neue Album von Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. den Track „911“ produzieren und dabei auch einen Rap-Part beisteuern. T.R.I.B.E.-Rapper The Godfather äußerte sich zur Zusammenarbeit folgendermaßen: „It’s all about mutual respect. He sees the struggle we go through and he wants to give back. A lot of people want to pay him big money to do this, but he feels us. His whole concept is that he only wants to fuck with real people. If people can look past Eminem being white and appreciate his music, then they can look past Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. being Samoan gangstas and enjoy our music… All we want is for the world to understand our pain. It isn’t about gangs or any of that.“ Das Album soll die HipHopper der Westküste vereinigen, denn die gefeatureten Künstler wie Mack 10, WC, Kurupt, Knoc’Turnal, Crooked I, Kokane oder Short Khop kommen von zum Teil rivalisierenden Labels. Godfather: „Our thing is we don’t have no beef with nobody, so I wanted to bring it together… I got ‚Death Row‘, I got ‚Aftermath‘, all on one album. You got the East Coast working together, the Dirty South working together, but the West just fell apart – A lot of these guys never lived the life, they just start stepping on each other to get up there.“ +++ Ex-Blur-Gitarrist Graham Coxon hat die Aufnahmen seines neuen Soloalbums beendet. Produzent Stephen Street, der schon die ersten fünf Blur-Alben produzierte: „It’s not quite as garage-y as some of the earlier stuff. There’s quite a few acoustic things on there and the songs are just a lot poppier than they were before. There are actually a few really good choruses in there and he’s also getting more and more confident singing.“ Gerüchten zufolge soll der Boogie- und Blues-Pianist Louis Vause ebenso auf dem Album zu hören sein wie ein „special guest drummer“. Wer das ist, wurde bis jetzt nicht verraten. Streets Versuch, den Sound des Albums näher zu beschreiben: „There’s a lot of Kinks-type stuff on there, which has always been very prevalent on all the Blur-stuff. There is also some really nice mellow stuff on there too that’s similar to Beck’s latest album. Lots of strings and all that. Then there’s the good old rockers he’s going for as well. I rate Graham very highly as a guitar player so it’s really great to hear him let loose on a few things.“ +++ A Perfect Circle– und Vandals-Ausnahmedrummer Josh Freese hat ein neues Projekt: Die Band Stripsearch wird im nächsten Monat ihr selbstbetiteltes Debütalbum veröffentlichen. Zu der vom Progressive-Rock beeinflussten Band gehört der Wallflowers-Gitarrist Michael Ward, der Eminem-Bassist Mike Elizondo und der kleine Bruder von Josh, Jason Freese am Saxophon. +++ Nebula werden ihr neues Album „Atomic Ritual“ Ende September veröffentlichen. Die von Chris Goss-produzierte Platte wird auf dem ‚Liquor & Poker‘-Label erscheinen. +++ Badly Drawn Boy hat ebenfalls mit den Arbeiten an einem neuen Studioalbum begonnen. Dabei wird er mit dem ‚Twisted Nerve‘-Boss Andy Votel zusammenarbeiten. +++ Auch die Frankfurter von Harmful haben ein neues Album eingespielt, das auf den Namen „Sanguine“ hört und auf ‚Steamhammer’/’SPV‘ erscheinen wird. +++ Das Video zu „Heaven Knows“ von Rise Against kann man sich hier in hoher und hier in niedriger Qualität anschauen. +++ Die Dropkick Murphys werden zusammen mit den Sex Pistols und The Reverend Horton Heat auf US-Tour gehen. Beim anschließenden, von Johnny Rotten angekündigten Bagdad-Gig der Pistols (wir berichteten) werden sie aber wohl nicht dabei sein…
