Release news: We're on top very pleased to present you two fantastic new releases of an act which is on board for a long time but was pretty inactive in the past three years: We've just started the preorder for the PIRATE SHIP QUINTET debut album Rope for No-Hopers. Cd and Vinyl artworks are both coming with a nice gold foil print. Additionally we're offering their s/t debut again on vinyl and cd. This one quickly acquired a certain chic status among the niche circles of the UK and European post-rock scene. It's very limited print run sold out rapidly and until now has never been repressed. We've as always listed all details concerning the releases below.

Hatte ich auch nicht so aufgefasst. Nur ist die Diskussion um die "Größe" der Bands bei unserem Festival vollkommen müßig (und eigentlich auch überflüssig) - unser Anspruch ist nicht der eines Rock am Ring, Vainstream, Visions Festival etc. - uns geht es nicht darum Konsensangebote für so viele Menschen wie möglich zu schaffen. Wir arbeiten mit keinem Headlinerkonzept (bei uns bekommt jeder Künstler die gleiche Spielzeit) und uns ist es einfach wichtig ein (aus unserer subjektiven Sicht) anspruchsvolles abwechslungsreiches Programm zu liefern - da ist's definitiv sekundär wie bekannt ein Künstler ist.

We're very happy to present you the confirmed final lineup for the DENOVALI SWINGFEST 2012 edition – our experimental music festival in Essen, Germany.

The festival will happen on 3 days – October 5th, October 6th and October 7th. We've again rented the nice venue called WESTSTADTHALLE ESSEN. Those who didn't visit the 2011 edition can find pics of it on our Swingfest homepage.

This year we in total will present 21 artists from 10 different countries. Their sets as always will be as long as a real club show (around an hour).

Five years after their début EP was released to critical acclaim, The Pirate Ship Quintet have recorded their first full length album entitled ‘Rope for No-Hopers’, to be pressed courtesy of Denovali Records. The record is a compendium of pieces chosen and refined from an abundance written over the past few years, during which time the band disappeared from the live scene. The band’s fantastically talented cellist, who has played with the likes of The London Symphony Orchestra among others, recently accepted a full-time position with the National Orchestra of Wales which is based very close to the band’s home town. With all members of the group living in the same part of the UK once more and with their own small studio in the heart of Bristol they will be writing, recording and performing consistently again. The five tracks on this record move through the richly melodic foundations of contemporary classical and minimalist rock.

They're now coming to France and Germany to present the debut album live for the first time.

Hello everyone.

We're back with two new releases: one by a denovali rookie: SAFFRONKEIRA from Italy - and one by the denovali doyens / dinosaurs / grandfathers: SANKT OTTEN.

SAFFRONKEIRA is the Italian sound artists Eugenio Cara - with this project he lives out his passion of being a researcher of the possibility of expression offered by currently available technology. His debut is a 2 track 10'' (which is limited to 350 copies and won't be repressed) - in July will follow his first album called ''A New Life'' as a 2xCd and on two different 2xLPs. His sound should please fans of MURCOF, ALVA NOTO, FENNESZ or maybe ARVO PART. A fantastic diversified sound.

Most of you already know the German duo SANKT OTTEN because of several past releases we've did with them - especially the last full length ''Gottes Synthesizer'' and their split record with MAJEURE. They're now back with a new 8 tracks album. ''Sequencer Liebe (Sequencer Love)'' leads into a paradise of warm analogue sounds garnished with the typical soaring guitar drones of Oliver Klemm, while the band's mastermind Stephan Otten flavoured these ingredients with his 80s electronic drum sounds. New Artist: We're also happy to present you a new denovali artist which also will perform at this year's Swingfest edition (Oct 5th to 7th in Essen): THE NEST - Comprising of Christoph Clöser (Bohren & der Club of Gore), Tycho Schottelius (Desmond Denker), Thomas Mahmoud & Gerald Mandl (Tannhäuser Sterben & das Tod) The Nest have created their own blend of electronic sounds, jazz and noise across various improvisational sessions recorded live in Cologne in 2011. The title and track names of this new AUN three track EP, contain some clues as to the frame of mind, and maybe some hints of the influences of its creators. As fans have now come to expect, 'Full Circle' is again a different sonic adventure, but still unmistakably AUN stamped. On the A side we find the fittingly titled 'Return to Jupiter Jazz, a Dumais solo piece, while the B side is a more joint affair, with the slow melancholic guitar and keyboard interplay of 'Floodland' and a first track featuring AUN in trio formation, with Frédéric Arbour adding some synth and guitar work to the lush and sprawling 'Family Man', a track which also finds some subtle lead guitar work by family friend Eric Quach of THISQUIETARMY fame.

In April THE SAMUEL JACKSON 5 from Norway will hit the road for a 4 weeks European tour to present the 4th album. On parts of the tour they will be supported by PETRELS from the UK.

The long awaited fourth album by THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE from Norway.

Having set a high standard with all previous efforts, the new album shows the band from quite a different side. Let’s skip to the main new addition right away: Yes, the album has vocals! Truls Heggero (of Lukestar fame) and Pal Angelskar (Minor Majority) – both Norwegian Grammy winners – contribute on one song each on the record, the same does Thomas Bratlie from post-hardcore rockers Rumble in Rhodos, on the aptly titled "Electric Crayons". New addition to the band, Jonny "the Captain" Knutsen also does vocal chores, while the recording process has been carefully overlooked by multi-instrumentalist Thomas Meidell.

While SJ5's last effort, "Goodbye Melody Mountain" (2008) was recorded in the wilderness, the brand new album was put together in the middle of Oslo, and includes urban soundtracks like "Mocba (Moscow)" (written in the Russian capitol and features noise from Berlin at night). The band further tries to distance themselves from their post-rock roots, delivering a thoughtfully arranged set of songs – only two of them clocking in at over 5 minutes. There are more traces of JAGA JAZZIST, ARCADE FIRE, YES or even English folk, than Mogwai or GYBE!. There are even influences of the proud Scandinavian piano jazz tradition of JAN JOHANSSON or ESBJÖRN SVENSSON. The 40+ minutes will definitely give these Norwegians a bunch of new followers, while challenging the devoted fan base.

Thanks a lot for the great feedback concerning the denovali debut releases of THE EYE OF TIME and PAN & ME. It's nice to see that so many people are taking the time to always check out the new artists on the label.

All preorders of both records are shipped now. You should have your copies in the next days. The albums are also in stores since Friday February 24th. We've just received the recordings of the new album and they're simply stunning. They will do a little tour in Germany and Poland in april to present the new tunes - together with SANKT OTTEN.
